What is the daydream generation?
In March 2007 we put together 160 mins of songs from various mainly unsigned bands whose music we loved in a free downloadable compilation of mp3s. To begin with it was just a fun and interesting experiment, like making a modern day mix-tape of brilliant new music that deserves exposure. Thanks to some positive feedback the compilations have since become an ongoing feature and hopefully a place for you to discover new sounds for the price of a mouse-click. Not content to simply concentrate on the compilations, we’ve stumbled quixodelically through a number of other projects including a live online music festival (Dreamstream 07), our continuing “Singles” project, a musical maze, and more recently established QUIXODELIC RECORDS hosting albums by bands and artists who previously contributed to the compilations. The Daydream Generation is therefore many things to many people – a place to discover new bands, a revolutionary pocket of resistance to the capitalisation of music & art, a makeshift record label, and a genuine community of musicians, artists, songwriters, space cadets, anarchists, and daydreamers.
